Joan M. Ferretti, who was born and raised in New York, received her undergraduate degree in biology from Fordham University in the Bronx. She received her Masters in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Pennsylvania, and her law degree with honors, from Temple University School of Law in Philadelphia.
Prior to forming the Law Office of Lustberg & Ferretti in 1986, she was employed by the US Endangered Species Scientific Authority, part of the US Fish and Wildlife Service, and as an enforcement attorney for the USEPA in Washington, DC, with involvement in wetlands protection, dredge and fill enforcement, and regulating the transportation of hazardous waste.
For twelve years, she was an adjunct professor of law at Pace Law School in White Plains, teaching environmental and conservation law in the JD and LLM programs. She has lectured on environmental law issues and authored articles on environmental law topics and the use of scientific evidence in New York State civil practice. She has provided extensive pro bono services regarding pesticides and toxic substances.
In private practice, her interests include municipal and zoning law, hazardous waste spills and remediation, corporate litigation, and serious personal injury cases involving medical malpractice and products liability.
Ms. Ferretti is licensed to practice law in New York State and the District of Columbia, and is admitted to practice in the US District Courts for the Eastern and Northern Districts of New York, and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. She litigates in federal and state courts in New York, and has handled appeals in all four judicial districts of New York State, the New York State Court of Appeals, and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of the NYS Bar Association and the DC Bar.
Ms. Ferretti is of counsel to the Law Office of Robert Danzi located in Westbury, NY. Mr. Danzi is the former president of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association.
Ms. Ferretti is married to Robert Lustberg. They have four grown children, and three grandchildren who live in the North Country.
Robert Lustberg (Retired 2020), was born and raised in New York, received his undergraduate degree with high honors from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City, and his law degree from Temple University Law School, Philadelphia, PA.
Prior to forming the Law Office of Lustberg and Ferretti in 1986, Mr. Lustberg was employed by the US Railway Association in Washington, DC, and as the Senior Corporate and Litigation Counsel for Metro-North Commuter Railroad in New York City.
In private practice, he has represented municipalities and county government, and served as district attorney. His private clients include individuals, families, and large and small businesses. His practice interests are real estate and commercial transactions and litigation, wills, estate and trust law and litigation, zoning and municipal law, hazardous waste and petroleum spills and regulation, and the corporate aspects of complex personal injury cases.
Mr. Lustberg is licensed to practice law in New York State and Pennsylvania, and is admitted to practice in the US District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York, and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. He litigates in federal and state courts in New York, and has handled appeals in all four judicial districts of New York State, the New York State Court of Appeals, and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the NYS Bar Association.
Mr. Lustberg is married to Joan Ferretti. They have four grown children, and three young grandchildren who live in the North Country.
